IAD "Class of 2004" Graduates

15 April 2004
The IAD presented more than 170 Certificates and Statements of Attainment at a graduation
ceremony for the 2004 students of the Institute for Aboriginal Development last night.

The students graduated before an audience of more than 130 people in courses ranging from Spoken and Written English to Horticulture, Interpreting, Youth and Community Services and Business Studies.

A further 74 students had previously received Certificates in Driver Education.

The gala ceremony to mark the students’ achievements was held on campus in the Reverend Jim
Downing Common Room. It was followed by dinner under the stars with accompaniment from wellknown Indigenous youth percussion group, Drum Atweme.

Recently, the Federal Member for Lingiari, Warren Snowdon presented Certificates and Statements of Attainments to 18 students from the IAD’s Tennant Creek campus at the Tennant Creek Training Centre. He also attended last night’s Alice Springs graduation ceremony.

The IAD Director Eileen Shaw said: “The IAD is very proud to mark the achievements of its 2004
students. Through studying at IAD, these students now have a real path to further study, employment or enhanced communication. I would encourage others to follow their excellent example.”
